Mount Kilimanjaro is the highest free-standing mountain in the world. Rising 5,895 m from the East African plains, it is capped by Uhuru Peak – meaning “freedom” in Swahili. Standing on this frosty peak puts you on the Roof of Africa, where you can gaze down on the clouds, and up across acres of blue sky. Known as the Whisky Route, Machame follows a quieter path to the summit and offers a more authentic experience than the busier ‘Coca-Cola’ Marangu Route.
This adventure will take you from the bustling town of Moshi, through rainforests, over moorland & alpine desert, to the eternal snow which caps this iconic mountain. Our programme is designed to give you the best chance of reaching the summit safely. We will provide a carefully selected menu, highly experienced and qualified guides, and an itinerary that follows the principles of “walk high, sleep low” to allow for proper acclimatisation.
Nothing can match the feeling of reaching the summit with your team and watching the sun rise over the East African plains. This trip truly is a must for anyone with a sense of adventure
What are you waiting for?
Every step you take on your challenge to climb Mount Kilimanjaro will help children orphaned by AIDS to take the next step in their lives too. AIDS not only deprives millions of the poorest children of the love and protection of their parents, the vast majority are left to struggle alone, many with younger siblings to care for, in desperate poverty and with the discrimination and stigma that an HIV status brings.
The money you raise will help to feed, clothe and house the children in our care. It will also help to send them to school each day where they can learn the academic and vocational skills they need to lead fulfilling lives.
We believe every child orphaned by AIDS deserves our love and protection as well as a decent chance in life. If you believe that too, then please take on this challenge for us. We’d love to have your support and we’ll be with you every step of the way.
